Presenting in English
Presenter, moderator & podcast producer
Working in English, Dutch and French, for cultural organisations, festivals and international networks across Europe.
Hi, I'm Maaike Muis
I'm a creative professional with a deep passion for arts and culture. After years as a culture editor and producer for Dutch public television (De Wereld Draait Door, NPO2), I became Artistic Director of Circusstad Festival Rotterdam at 29 — a role I held for twelve years, realising international projects and unforgettable performances for tens of thousands of visitors.
Today I work as a presenter, moderator and podcast producer for cultural organisations across the Netherlands and Europe. You'll recognise me by my bold colours, sharp eye and open mind.
Visiting around 100 exhibitions, galleries and art fairs each year keeps me informed, curious and inspired.

- 12 years as festival director

What I do
Are you looking for someone who bridges content, atmosphere and audience? Here's how I can help.

- Opening & closing ceremonies
- Panel discussions & roundtables
- Award ceremonies
Podcast Production
I create bespoke podcasts and audio tours for cultural organisations, from concept to distribution. Journalistic in approach, warm in tone, independent in execution. I've produced series in English, Dutch, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

- Recording & hosting
- Full series or one-off episodes
- Audio tours for exhibitions
Interviewing & Coaching
I conduct in-depth interviews with artists, directors and cultural leaders, on stage or in the studio. I also coach creative professionals who want to sharpen their on-stage presence or storytelling skills.

What clients say
"An impressive moderator, thorough in timekeeping, always checking the temperature of the room and how people are doing. During a conference, people look for an anchor, and you were the anchor."
"She brought clear insight, prepared speakers with a cohesive discussion outline, and moderated the panel with ease. Her perfect command of English and sensitivity to cultural nuances made her invaluable to the international event."
"It was amazing to see how well prepared and at the same time how free you were on stage. Thank you for your intelligent moderation and amazing outfits."
Practical questions
Can you work entirely in English?
Yes. I work fully in English, Dutch and French, including switching seamlessly between languages within a single event. This makes me particularly suited to international and European contexts.
Where are you based and can you travel?
I'm based in the Netherlands and regularly work across Europe. Travel is no problem, I'm experienced with international events and know how to prepare quickly for unfamiliar contexts.
Do you work outside the cultural sector?
The cultural and creative sector is my home territory, but I do take on work outside it when the theme or context connects to my expertise, design, sustainability, European collaboration, or creative industries.
Can you combine presenting and podcasting for the same project?
Absolutely. Many clients use me for both: I moderate the event and create a podcast series from it. It creates continuity and extends the reach of your organisation or festival.
How do I get started?
Just send a message with a short description of your event or project. I'll get back to you personally and we'll set up a no-obligation conversation.
